PLEASE NOTE:  The yearling classes are printed incorrectly in the printed fair book and online on the Henry County Fair website.  The correct yearling classes are listed below.  Please note there are three yearling classes, not two.  We will be checking birthdates on all yearling animals to be sure they are in the correct class before check-in.  Also, please check your tattoos.  Animals with incorrect tattoos or unreadable tattoos must forfeit their award and will be disqualified.

EntriesMust be postmarked before Monday, June 9, 2008. 

Entry fees:  $5  per entry   $5 per pen fee.  Exhibitor pass:  $12.00 (required)  Youth Jackpot Wether $10 cash at time of check in (no checks!).  Limit one tack pen per family.  Pens will be assigned.  We reserve the right to limit pens depending on number of entries.  No substitutions on day of show. 

Rules and regulations:

1.     Mail entries to:  Henry County Fair, c/o Judy Douglas, 13211 E 2000 St., Atkinson, IL  61235.   Due to the high cost of postage, all premium checks are to be picked up in the secretary’s office before the exhibitor leaves the fairgrounds.  If the check is not picked up, the exhibitor will forfeit their premium check to the fair association.  A social security number is required for the release of the check.  If you would like your check mailed to you, please bring a self addressed, stamped envelope to the fair secretary’s office at check in.

2.  When coming to the fair, enter at the northeast gate of the fairgrounds.  All animals must be penned in the sheep barn. 

3.  All animals must be penned.  No animal will be allowed on the grounds unless entered for competition.  Only animals entered in individual classes may be shown in pair classes and/or in showmanship classes.

4.       All exhibitors must furnish official health certificates as required by Illinois state law.  Upon arrival at the show, health certificates must be checked in at the fair office.  Animals are subject to rejection from the fairgrounds for appearance of contagious disease at the discretion of the fair officials.  This includes but is not limited to severe diarrhea, pink eye, sore mouth, ringworm, or abscess in any stage

5.     ABGA rules shall govern.

6.     All animals entered must be registered with an approved registry association (IBGA, USBGA, ABGA). Exhibitors must show original certificates of registration.  Animals with illegible tattoos or tattoos not matching their registration certificate will be excused.

7.  For safety reasons, no equipment including fans in aisles.  No trimming stands allowed in the goat barn - tent provided. 

8.     No exhibitor may receive more than two monies in any one class.

9.    The bse date for class entry will be the day of the show.  Animals improperly classified forfeit their award. 

10.   All must furnish their own feed, bedding and equipment.

11.  Weigh in for market wethers will be friday, 6/27/2008 after the commercial doe class.  (between 5 and 6 p.m.)

12.  Market Class winners can be asked to weigh back with no more than a 5 pound difference in weight allowed.  Market animals must show with their milk teeth.  Goats with missing milk teeth or eruption of permanent teeth will be disqualified.  Tags and tattoos must match weight card.  Market animals MUST have a unique tattoo or tag identification.

13.  All livestock trucks, trailers etc must park in the designated livestock area north of the barns or forfeit premiums.  No one will be alloed to show animals from their trailers.

14.   The Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act prohibits physical mistreatment of animals.  No muzzles, no icing market animals.  Withholding feed and/or water are considered direct violations of this act.  Persons mistreating goats will be prohibited from exhibiting and/or lose their award. Injecting and/or drenching any substance except under the express supervision of a licensed veterinarian is not allowed.

15.  No class changes after entries have been mailed in without the permission of the superintendent.  Substitions can be made only within the same class, and at check in time (not on day of show).

16.  An exhibitor shall not present an animal to be shown under a judge from whom it was purchased within six months of the show.

17.  Proof of owndership shall be the name on the certificate/application.  Persons showing animals whose certificates/application have signed transfers on them, must show the animals as agent for the owner on the certificate/application.  An entry form in that owner's name must have been submitted with all applicable fees.

18.  Animals with natural horns, disbudded or dehorned may be shown without regard to discrimination.
