September 2009 Black Hawk College Meat Goat Lab: Every year Burt and I put on a Meat Goat Lab at our local junior college, Black Hawk College. I have a wonderful Powerpoint presentation I've put together over the years and I really enjoy speaking to the animal science classes and the judging team. When the presentation is over, we bring a few classes to the students to judge, and we always bring several different ages' of males and females and get the kids up close and personal. It's been a great learning experience for us all!
2009 Black Hawk College Invitational: In March of 2009, we were invited to provide a class of yearling does for the Black Hawk College Invitational Livestock Judging Contest. Thanks to Sarah Dean, Jalane Alden, and all the other Black Hawk Students who helped us choose the does for the class, and get them ready for the big day. The competition featured judging teams from 4-H, FFA, and Colleges throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.
